Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (#TESOL) Academic is a website for students, lecturers, teacher trainers and trainees, researchers, policy makers and others working in Language Education.

    About

The original website and subsequent social media outlets was established in 2008 to provide free at source Applied Linguistics YouTube talks for our diverse profession. With kind contributions from leaders in the field, published researchers and book authors we believe there was something for everyone in our broadly defined profession. Our data on: YouTube views; website visits; Facebook & LinkedIn members; Twitter (now X) followers all point to a big big success story.  At the time there was very little out there and this initiative put us at the forefront of Language Education in a digital era.

A great deal has changed since 2008 and there are now a plethora of free websites and apps, YouTube talks, webinars, blogs, Facebook groups, Twitter feeds, Instagram posts, podcasts etc. Furthermore, whilst journal paywalls regrettably still exist there has nevertheless been significant improvements. Arguably, it is easier to access, share and discuss knowledge building in Language Education today than it has ever been.

In 2023 our website hosts closed down and given the above there seemed little point in rebuilding something similar so we migrated to WordPress as a way of maintaining a presence.

    Our YouTube talks

We posted talks from 2008 to 2018 and in total we host 24 Keynote Talks. We also host 46 Research Paper talks from scholars who published in leading peer-reviewed Language Education Journals and 8 Featured Publications from authors.
